Books can be as diverse as we are as people - from funny, adventurous, and creative to emotional and imaginative.
Each genre has its specific challenges. Fantasy requires immense creativity, Romance a flair for emotionally charged and explicit scenes, and Science Fiction a lot of research and imagination to create a new reality. But they all have one thing in common: An eye for detail is essential to create a world or story that knocks the readers off their seats.
Not all books are the same, and not all translations are the same. German is one of the most challenging languages in the world. That's why a book translation requires not only a creative streak and ingenuity, but also a feel for the language itself. After all, there is nothing more annoying than dozens of spelling and grammatical mistakes and listless writing that is anything but captivating.
The most important thing in any translation is not to lose the essence of the book. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to have a style of writing that is adapted to the needs of the book and yet is as unique and authentic as the original. Indeed, one thing is certain: A translated book must not be inferior to the English original in any way!
I've had the pleasure of translating books from various genres, tropes, and authors - including NYT &USA TODAY's Best-Selling Authors. If you scroll a bit further, you can see which authors I've already worked with. Likewise, under the Publications tab, you can see the books I've already translated and are currently in the translation process.
What I can already guarantee you in advance:
- Extensive experience in translating books from different genres/tropes
- A unique writing style tailored to the essence and needs of the text
- Special accuracy regarding grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- The copyright, along with anything related to it, remains with you, the author
- Support in the publication process
Language: English to German
In my opinion, literary translations should always be carried out by a native speaker, which is why I only offer book translations from English into German.
Manual Translation:
I am increasingly receiving inquiries from authors who are specifically looking for DeepL editing work. Of course, I also offer this service, although this clearly falls under the category of DeepL editing and not manual book translation. You can find more information on AI editing here.
For an authentic book translation, however, I do not use AI translators such as DeepL or similar tools at all. So you can be sure that every word comes from my own imagination and was written by me personally.
Duration:
Unfortunately, I cannot offer a general timetable as these can vary greatly. I would therefore ask you to get in touch with me straight away so that I can always tell you what my current capacities are.
*IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING PROOFREADING: I always proofread my books twice, but especially when you have written the book yourself, you sometimes stumble over your own mistakes, which is why I can say from my own experience - and that of my translator colleagues - that it is advisable to hire an external proofreader. If you don't know any and need a recommendation, I'll be happy to help you. When choosing your proofreader, please pay attention to their references. In 99% of cases, the qualification "native speaker" alone is not enough to master complex and meticulous proofreading. I have worked with many proofreaders and I can promise you one thing - they are worth their money and save EVERYONE a lot of work and nerves!
